<미 합중국의 공개 사과문>

"미국 함선이 조선민주주의인민공화국 영해에 침입하여

조선민주주의인민공화국을 반대하는 엄중한 정탐행위를 한 데 대해서

전적인 책임을 지고 이에 엄숙히 사과하며,"

 

"다시는 어떠한 미국 함선도 조선민주주의인민공화국 영해에 침입하지

않도록 할 것을 확실히 담보하는 바입니다."

To the Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea 

 

The Government of the United States of America

 

Acknowledging the validity of the confession of the crew of the USS Pueblo and of the doc-uments of evidence produced by the Representative of the Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the effect that the ship, which was seized by the self defense measures of the naval vessels of the Korean People’s Army in the territorial waters of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on January 23,1968. had illegally intruded into the territorial waters of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

 

Shoulders full responsibility and solemnly apologizes for the grave acts of espionage committed by the U.S.ship against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea after having intruded into the territorial waters of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

 

And give firm assurance that no U.S. ships will intruded again in the future into the territorial waters of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

Meanwhile, the Government of the United States of America earnestly requests the Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to deal leniently with the former crew members of the USS Pueblo confiscated by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea side, taking into consideration the fact that these crew members have confessed honestly to their crimes and petitioned the Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for leniency.

Simultaneously with the singing of this doc-ument, the undersigned acknowledges receipt of 82 former crew members of the Pueblo and one corpse.

미합중국 정부는 1968년 1월23일 조선민주주의인민공화국 영해에서

 조선인민군 해군 함정들의 자위적 조치에 의하여 나포된 미국 함선 푸에블로호가

조선민주주의인민공화국 영해에 여러 차례 불법 침입하고

조선민주주의인민공화국의 중요한 군사적 및

국가적 기밀을 탐지하는 정탐행위를 하였다는 승무원들의 자백과

조선민주주의인민공화국 정부 대표가 제시한 해당 증거 문건들의 타당성을 인정하면서,

이 미국 함선이 조선민주주의인민공화국 영해에 침입하여

조선민주주의인민공화국을 반대하는 엄중한 정탐행위를 한 데 대해서

 전적인 책임을 지고 이에 엄숙히 사과하며,

앞으로 다시는 어떠한 미국 함선도 조선민주주의인민공화국 영해에 침입하지 않도록 할 것을

 확실히 담보하는 바입니다.

 

이와 아울러 미합중국정부는 조선민주주의인민공화국측에 의해서 압수된

미국 함선 푸에블로호의 승무원들이 자기들 죄를 솔직히 고백하고

관용을 베풀어줄 것을 조선민주주의인민공화국 정부에 청원한 사실을 고려하여

 이들 승무원들을 관대히 처분해줄 것을 조선민주주의인민공화국 정부에 간절히 요청하는 바입니다.

 

본 문건에 서명하는 동시에 하기인은 푸에블로호의 승무원 82명과 시체 한 구를 인수함을 인정합니다.
